Hi my name is Nando. I am a fully qualified Government Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) and I am passionate about road safety. I have always loved driving both cars and motorcycles. Unfortunately, the motorcycles have been put to one side now and all my driving is done in the car.
To tell you a little bit of my background. I left school at an early age and joined the Military. (Army). I served in the Army for 11 years and was a member of the Army Physical Training Corps where I taught things like Rock Climbing, Abseiling, Windsurfing and X Country Ski-ing.In addition I was also qualified to teach in a host of sports to varying degrees like Football, Boxing, Athletics, Self Defence to mention but a few. Upon leaving the Armed Forces I then joined the Police Service. While in the Police Service I worked as a Detective and also qualified as a Class One Advanced Police Driver in 2003 (probably the best course I ever took!!)
I am a member of the First Register with the Institute Of Advanced Motorists (IAM) passing the advanced driving test by way of exemption having previously qualified as a Class One Advanced Police Driver. Please click on the link to get more information about the IAM and its values. http://www.iam.org.uk/about
I became a driving instructor because I wanted to continue getting real job satisfaction by hopefully contributing to the safe drivers of the future, and there is nothing better than seeing someone pass their test first time. Throughout my working career in one way or another I have been involved in training and have always enjoyed the feeling of having taught something no matter what the subject. I have been fortunate to be trained by LDC in the latest adult coaching and training techniques so you can be assured the training I give will be of the highest standard, the emphasis being customer/student bias. Gone are the days of the instructor barking instructions at you, shouting (shudder the thought), its about making the lessons an enjoyable experience so that you learn in a safe comfortable environment at a pace that suits you, and one where you won’t be afraid to ask questions or feel intimidated.
I chose to work with LDC because everybody is different and the unique LD System allows for flexibility in lessons. My aim is to make every lesson enjoyable and as productive as possible. The LD System is structured in such a way that it facilitates this method of learning and helps me to do this more effectively.
For the past year I have been working with LDC aiming to become a member of ORDIT. The Official Register of Driving Instructor Training (ORDIT) was set up to protect the public from substandard driving instructor training and rogue business practices. Nationally, over 70% who register with the DVSA never go on to qualify which is why ORDIT was created in the first place to address this problem. On the 7th Feb 2018 I successfully passed the exam which means that I am now in addition to teaching learning drivers able to offer Driver Training to those of you considering to become Driving Instructors.
I have lived in the Selby area now for just over 12 years and have got to know it and the surrounding areas really well, and all my family members are from the Yorkshire area. So you can be assured that you have someone who is local and not just popping into the area to give a lesson.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you progress in your driving be it as a beginner or just wanting to improve your driving. I hope this gives you a brief idea about me so please feel free to click here to "Contact me” and take your first step to becoming the next safe driver of the future.
